About Dr. Eric Tygenhof

Dr. Eric Tygenhof is a board-certified, expert urologic surgeon specializing in general urology, with a particular emphasis in stone disease, robotic surgery, and vasectomy. He practices in Fullerton, California as a partner at Southland Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

He currently serves as the Medical Director of Urologic Surgery and Surgery Department Vice Chair at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton. Additionally, he is the founder and acting Medical Director of the St. Jude Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center.

In addition to his clinical activities, he provides litigation support to The Cooperative of American Physicians and is the Urology Team lead at Modernizing Medicine.

Dr. Tygenhof is an active member of the American Urological Association and Western Section of the American Urological Association. He is also a member of several honorary and medical societies.

What is urology?

Urology is the medical specialty that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the urinary tract in both men and women. The urinary tract includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.

Common Urological Conditions

An expert urologic surgeon can treat a wide range of conditions, including:

    • Kidney stones: Hard deposits that form in the kidneys and can cause severe pain when they pass through the urinary tract
    • Urinary tract infections (UTIs): Infections of the urinary tract, often caused by bacteria.
    • Bladder cancer: A type of cancer that affects the bladder.
    • Prostate cancer: A type of cancer that affects the prostate gland in men.
    • Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): A non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland that can cause urinary problems in men.

Urological Procedures
